What is felix thiollier?

Felix Thiollier (1842-1914) was a French photographer, painter, and art collector. He is known for his photographs of landscapes and architecture, particularly those taken in the French regions of Forez and Beaujolais. Thiollier was also a painter and exhibited his works in several exhibitions.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Thiollier was also a prominent art collector. He amassed a large collection of art and artifacts from around the world, including works by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, and Paul Gauguin, among others. Thiollier also wrote several books, including "La Vérité sur les peintres impressionnistes" ("The Truth about Impressionist Painters") in 1902.

Thiollier was born in Saint-Etienne, France, and was the owner of a paper mill. He started taking photographs in the 1860s while traveling, and his work soon gained recognition in exhibitions and publications. Thiollier was awarded the Medal of Honour in 1895 and was named a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1901. He died in Saint-Etienne at the age of 72.
